We are sad to announce the death of David Vyorst, Executive Director of the DC Chapter of the Internet Society, who devoted himself to the Internet and to what it can offer to the world. He died peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017.
David’s absence will be felt not only among his colleagues in Washington DC in the Chapter and in the Internet Society worldwide, but also in the IGF USA community to which he has contributed so much and to the many persons from around the world whom he touched through his passion for an Internet open to and beneficial for all.
On behalf of the DC Chapter and the Internet Society we offer our condolences.
The DC Chapter and the Internet Society are jointly establishing a fellowship award in David’s name to be awarded to a young person in a US-based chapter who has an innovative project or initiative for making a chapter more effective in advancing the values of a free and open Internet accessible by everyone.
Donations in David’s memory may be made on the DC Chapter’s website at: https://isoc-dc.org/donate/. They will be dedicated towards the fellowship award fund being created in David’s name.
